Tapered Button Drill Bits, often referred to simply as carbide button bits, are specialized cutting tools used primarily in drilling operations. These bits are known for their durability and are used in various industries, including mining, construction, and oil and gas exploration.

 

 

Tapered Button Drill Bits are heat treated to increase their hardness, strength and wear resistance, making them more durable and efficient in drilling operations. The following is the heat treatment process of tapered button drill bits under normal circumstances:

 

Annealing: The manufacturing process of tapered button drill bits usually begins with heat treatment. First, unheated raw materials (usually high-strength steel alloys) are heated to a certain temperature and then slowly cooled to eliminate internal stress and harden, improving the material's machinability. The annealed raw material is relatively soft and suitable for subsequent processing and forming.

 

Normalizing: In some cases, tapered button drill bits may require normalizing. During the normalizing process, after heating to the critical temperature, specific structures and hardness are obtained through different cooling rates to improve the strength and hardness of the material.

 

Quenching: Quenching is a key step in the heat treatment of tapered button drill bits. During the quenching process, the drill bit that has been heated to a critical temperature is rapidly cooled, usually using water, oil, or other cooling media. This rapid cooling process causes changes in the drill bit's lattice structure, which increases its hardness and strength. Quenched tapered button bits are generally very hard, but also more brittle.

 

Tempering: The quenched tapered button drill bit is usually too brittle, so it needs to be tempered to reduce its brittleness. During tempering, the drill bit is reheated to a lower temperature and then cooled slowly. This relieves stress and improves the toughness of the drill bit, making it more suitable for use in actual drilling.

9.Goods are appropriately packaged;

10.Accurate invoicing;
(i.e. the invoiced quantity and pricing is as per the purchase order line item.)
