Casing Systems are an essential component of oil and gas and water well construction, serving as a protective barrier between the wellbore and the surrounding formation. These systems are designed to provide structural support and prevent collapse, while also allowing for the safe and efficient extraction of hydrocarbons.
At Casing Systems, we offer two distinct types of casing systems: Eccentric Casing Systems and Symmetric Casing Systems.
Eccentric Casing Systems are characterized by their asymmetric design, which allows for greater flexibility in drilling and completion operations. With an off-center bore, these systems can be used to navigate challenging geological formations and mitigate the risk of wellbore instability. Eccentric Casing Systems are ideal for horizontal and highly deviated wells, as well as those with uneven or unpredictable formations.
The LEANOMS Odex System products can keep stable and continuous productivity, even in difficult ground conditions.
The optimal performance of LEANOMS Odex System includes:
Excellent drilling speed;
Install quickly and efficiently;
Easy to operate
All LEANOMS Odex System products are designed to minimize downtime and maximize your productivity and profitability.
Available for DTH and top hammer rigs;
Odex 90 for 3’’hammers~Odex 240 for 8’’ hammers;
Odex 76 for R38 and T38 threads~Odex 115 for T45 and T51 threads.
Symmetric Casing Systems, on the other hand, feature a more traditional, centered design. These systems are best suited for vertical wells with relatively consistent formations, where the primary concern is providing structural support and preventing collapse. Symmetric Casing Systems are highly durable and can withstand the extreme pressures and temperatures encountered in deep drilling operations.

Eccentric (ODEX) Casing Systems and Symmetrix Systems are two different drilling methods used in various applications. Here are the key differences between these two systems:
Operation Principle:
Eccentric (ODEX) Casing System: ODEX is a drilling method where a casing pipe is driven into the ground using a down-the-hole hammer. The hammer is equipped with an eccentric bit that creates an annular space between the casing and the surrounding formation. The cuttings are flushed out through the annular space, and the casing is advanced simultaneously.
Symmetrix System: The Symmetrix System is a drilling method that uses a concentric casing system. The casing is equipped with a drill bit at the bottom, and drilling fluid is circulated down through the casing and up through the annular space between the casing and the formation. The cuttings are lifted to the surface with the drilling fluid, and the casing is advanced simultaneously.
Application:
Eccentric (ODEX) Casing System: ODEX is commonly used in loose to medium-hard ground conditions, such as soil, sand, and gravel. It is suitable for applications where casing installation and ground stabilization are required simultaneously, such as water well drilling, geotechnical drilling, and foundation construction.
Symmetrix System: The Symmetrix System is suitable for drilling in various ground conditions, including hard rock formations. It is often used in applications where casing installation is necessary to maintain borehole stability and prevent collapse, such as foundation piles, micropiles, and ground anchors.
Casing Advancement:
Eccentric (ODEX) Casing System: In the ODEX system, the casing is advanced by hammering it into the ground using the down-the-hole hammer. The eccentric bit creates a void space around the casing, allowing it to advance while displacing the surrounding material.
Symmetrix System: In the Symmetrix system, the casing is advanced by rotating it using a rotary drilling rig. The drill bit at the bottom of the casing cuts the formation, and drilling fluid circulates through the casing to lift the cuttings and facilitate casing advancement.
Casing Design:
Eccentric (ODEX) Casing System: ODEX casing systems typically have a larger diameter compared to the drill bit, creating an eccentric annular space. The eccentricity allows for efficient cuttings evacuation and casing advancement.
Symmetrix System: In the Symmetrix system, the casing and drill bit have the same diameter, resulting in a concentric annular space. The drilling fluid circulates through this annular space, carrying the cuttings to the surface.
Both Eccentric (ODEX) Casing Systems and Symmetrix Systems have their advantages and are suitable for different drilling conditions and applications. The choice between them depends on factors such as ground conditions, required borehole stability, drilling objectives, and equipment availability. It is important to consult with drilling experts and engineers to determine the most appropriate system for a specific project.
