Gauge Wear
The wear on the DTH Button Bit circumference is often larger when drilling with extreme rotation through hard materials like sandstone and quartzite. The diameter across the gauge is therefore less than or equal to the diameter of the DTH Button Bit body when the buttons are sharpened. The drill bit is prone to bind (gauge-out) in the hole in this circumstance. Drillers should think about changing the drill bit or resetting the gauge button-to-body gap to its initial (new) state.
Drilling on harder terrain and with too much rotation might wear down the DTH Button Bit's diameter more than other areas.
Body Wash
Carbide wear is reduced and drilling intervals may be extended when drilling non-abrasive materials. This makes it possible to keep chipping away around the DTH Button Bit and destroys the bit body more quickly than with carbides, commonly known as body wash. Similar wear happens in broken and loose formations when re-drilling and regular hole cleaning are needed to stabilize the hole and maintain it open during retraction. Under these circumstances, the protrusion should be lowered to its original height by scheduling grinding intervals in order to prevent button loss or shearing.
